Lip Piercing Healing

The lip piercing healing time differs from person to person and the mode of taking care. There are cases where infections occur and take more time to heal completely. However, with proper aftercare the healing can be moderately easy and fast. The healing time also depends on the body parts.

The lip piercing normally takes around six to eight weeks to fully recover. In most of the cases, a swelling occurs after two to three days of lip piercing. The swelling normally lasts for about seven to ten days. It is advisable to wear a long labret stud until the initial swelling gets resolved. Once, the swelling is resolved, the stud can be replaced by a much shorter labret.

The lip piercing often have a propensity to change the positing form the inside area of the lips and the process is known as nesting. Rings are more prone to nesting compared to labrets. This can give more stress on the wound. At the time of lip piercing, a small thin skin membrane within the mouth gets cut and the skin moves back to the labret stud. Sooner or later, this skin becomes dead and you will be able to find a depression at the resting area of the stud. This will take a more time, usually a weekÆs time and the back portion of the stud fixes upon the wound. This is very common and the wound heals up with time.

If proper care is taken before and after the lip piercing, the healing process becomes easy as well as fast and avoids all associated complications.
